This playful Marais walking tour has been specially designed to engage your kids in an exciting Treasure Hunt to discover the rich past of Le Marais, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.
At the beginning of the tour, your Welcomer will give the young detectives an activity booklet where the Marquise Marie de Sévigné, a famous writer who lived in this aristocratic district in the 17th century, will give them clues to succeed in their investigation. To find the answers to the riddles, they will use their observational and analytical skills.
Your little darlings will track down traces of Marie’s life: from the building she was born in to the church where she was baptized or even the mansion she lived in for 20 years, this tour promises a true treasure hunt through history!
Let us begin with the times of knights and kings- a time during which Le Marais began to develop. Your kids will have to spot some of the oldest houses in Paris, as well as the city’s first defense wall.

Le Marais’s recent history is also included in the program! You are now in the Jewish Quarter, where former Jewish inhabitants suffered during WWII. Your children will be introduced to this complex period of Paris’s history, with a speech adapted to their age.
The tour will conclude at the magnificent Place des Vosges, a former royal square that has attracted a lot of famous people, from writers to politicians, and still entices them to this day.
At last, after the young investigators’ hard work, you all deserve a break in a typical Parisian café with a complimentary drink while listening to your Welcomer’s funny anecdotes about Marie de Sévigné.
