Saint Germain represents the French elegance in every way in Paris. It is an unmissable neighborhood with beautiful churches and buildings, many stories, and all sorts of food artisans. This Walking Food Tour Paris, starting ideally around 11am, will begin by visiting local corner shops proud of their 100% French products! Their idea was simple: fighting junk food on French tables.

Discover sweet and savory mouth-watering shops and get to taste some original French products. Your food expert will take you to a family business first opened in the early 19th century. They were candy confectioners in Aix-en-Provence but quickly focused on olive products. You will take the time, to taste their olive oils and vinegar. Such an effortless way to taste the South of France!

Nearby, your next stop will be a historical place. It is the oldest café in Paris full of history where French writers and intellectuals such as Rousseau, Diderot, and Verlaine used to meet. How about a little onion soup? One of France’s famous classic soup! But savoring it at this place, will take you back in time!

A walking food tour made with love to taste the yummiest food in Paris

The Saint Germain Market is your next destination. Shops are numerous, but your food expert will show you two unescapable shops. The first one takes you to a journey in the gastronomy of the Southwest of France. The specialty there is black pork meat products, where hog herds are raised with respect to natural resources and their own well-being. The second shop offers cheese found in famous executive chefs’ restaurants. All their specialties will have you stirring from a Loire Valley goat milk cheese, fresh and mellow, to a matured cooked cow cheese from the Alps.

A Food Tour without dessert is like a beauty with one eye. You will discover one of France’s classic puffy pastry: the chou! The most difficult part of the tour will be to choose between the varied flavors.

And if you're a sweet tooth and want to extend on another tour, have a look at our Sweet & Chocolate walking tour in Paris!

  1. :

Did a lunch time food tour of the St. Germaine with Sophie. A great day. Do not miss touring St. Germaine. Foodie area.Went to small hidden gourmet shop behind the church. Gourmet butcher and sampled tartare. Spent time in the Marche St. Germaine. Sophie was excellent and local but spoke fluent English. We stayed in St. Germaine and wanted to get to know the area better and this was the perfect tour to start our visit to France. Despite not seeing the availability of St. Germaine, I would recommend a tour of this area for anyone visiting Paris.

  2. :

Sophie met us at the Saint Germain des près Church. From there, we visited a small épicerie, a specialty meat shop [Polmard], a charcutier, “J’Go,” that specializes in a particular species of pig south of Toulouse. Before leaving the marketplace where we had the charcuterie, we picked up some cheese. We ended the tour in a shop that specializes in items from Provence. We tasted olive oils and selected a bottle of wine. We took the wine downstairs in the shop and had a small lunch of some of the items picked up along the way.
Sophie is knowledgable, personable, friendly, and engaging. She gave us multiple recommendations for other restaurants and shops to try out. It was the perfect morning! We certainly recommend working with Sophie!

This tour was just delightful. Emily knows so well Saint-Germain-des-Prés best food retailers. I’m looking forward to follow her on her chocolate tour.
