Colorful Characters around Notre-Dame de Paris
Stand face to face with crusaders, secret lovers, and hothead dukes who lived in this historic neighborhood.
Around Notre-Dame, Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis — the tiny islands at the center of Paris — are the heart of the city. The very first Parisians built their houses on Île de la Cité, and the city expanded from there.
Along their streets, you can still find traces of ancient kings and priests, visit a former palace and see France’s most famous cathedral. Both islands abound in incomparable examples of classic French mansions, from Place Dauphine to the Quai d’Anjou.
“Meet the Locals from the Past” will bring you face to face with the characters who lived in these magnificent palace and mansions, from the Middle Ages up to the 20th century.
At the start of the tour, you’ll receive a Historical Character Card. With your card, you’ll step into the shoes of a crusading knight, a pioneering female sculptor, or medieval France’s most famous lovers, just to name a few!
Plus, you’ll see some of Paris’s architectural jewels from the Pont Neuf and the Conciergerie to Notre-Dame and the Sainte Chapelle. So come with us to unlock Paris’s medieval secrets!
