Overview

If Chocolate is a big thing for your family, then this Chocolate Walking Tour is an experience not to miss while in Paris! The Art of Chocolate Making is part of the French culture and savoir-faire. Be ready to taste the best chocolates in the word!

In 2.5 hours, enjoy a fun and yummy tour full of riddles and delicious tastings for the whole family! Your Chocolate Expert will invite you to savor cocoa in all its forms and make you become an indisputable connoisseur. Your children will even earn a “Chocolate Expert” certificate at the end of the tour!

Saint-Germain-des-Près hosts the best French Chocolate artisans. While strolling this elegant neighborhood, your kids will have to solve a riddle to reveal the upcoming destination where a tasting awaits you.

Starting from Saint-Germain church, you’ll walk towards your first tasting: delicious “Pistoles” also known as “the Queen’s Coin”. The Queen was Marie-Antoinette, a client of this historic brand. Created in 1779, they were the first crunched chocolate. Before it was just a drink.

From there, follow your Welcomer to the world-renowned macaron brand to taste a divine chocolate-flavored macaron.

And now, it is time to enjoy an exquisite toffee coated with chocolate! You are standing inside the luxurious boutique of the creator of the Salted Butter Caramel (toffee) who won the award of “Best Caramel Maker”. You can be sure that you will taste the best toffee in France!

Have you ever put your finger in a jam jar to suck all that jam? We have too! But we are keeping it civilized in this tour. With a spoon, taste all kinds of jams but also excellent chocolate paste. After this tasting, you can never go back to the industrial products anymore!

It’s time to taste the French “Chou”! An old Italian recipe brought to France by Catherine de Medicis. These stuffed chocolate puffs will blow you away by their quality and fluffiness.

In the following stop, your kids will discover how a hammer can be used other than for planting a nail! This old-style sweet shop running since 1839 offers a unique décor and plenty of temptations for sweet tooth.

The next shop looks like a jewelry shop and belongs to a luxurious chocolate brand. You will taste their specialty: Raspberry “Coeur” a ganache of dark chocolate with raspberry pulp, refreshed with a few lemon zest.

Should chocolate be considered as Art? This following shop firmly believes so. Their chocolate bar’s packaging will impress you. They look like paintings! Here, get the chance to relish a delicious chocolate mousse.

To end this chocolate walking tour in beauty, your kids will have the delight of making their own chocolate bar with their choice of ingredients. The whole family will also savor the last type of chocolate: a first-rate chocolate drink.

As proof of their knowledge about Chocolate, your kids will get a  “Chocolate Expert certificate”, which they can proudly bring back home.

  1. :

Sophie was our guide for our private chocolate walking tour. She was so warm and inviting from the moment we met her, and she truly is a “Mary Poppins” with kids. Our 5 year old son, Joseph, is slow to warm to people, and he fell for her! She easily navigated the streets and took us to many chocolate shops, giving us the history of not only the chocolate, but the buildings and politics as well. Being a foreigner can always make one feel out of place, but we all felt so comfortable with her, and she made purchasing things so easy! I would HIGHLY recommend Sophie and Meet The Locals tours again, and I think Sophie is AWESOME. She was knowledgable, easy going and made us all feel so welcome, and so understanding when we were exhausted after traveling all night the evening before.
I am so glad I found your website when googling “chocolate tours”. Sophie set the tone for the rest of our trip, which has been fantastic so far! She even helped us hail a cab and told the driver where to go for us!!! That’s going above and beyond!
Thank you again for your help setting up the tour, and many thanks to Sophie for making it memorable. We truly enjoyed our time with her!
