Which better place for a market food tour than the district of Paris which formerly contained the city's central market. Named “Les Halles” or better: “The belly of Paris”, the whole city once came here to buy food. This market disappeared in the 1960s but its spirit remains alive along Rue Montorgueil. This is Charlotte’s paradise. A passionate foodie, she lives here and regularly walks up and down the street to enjoy its market-like atmosphere.

Before enjoying delicious homemade tastings, you will shop with Charlotte at her favorites places. A renowned cheese maker, Paris’ oldest cake shop, a high-quality butchery or a friendly wine store: all that makes the Montorgueil district so trendy and mouthwatering is a part of this market food tour.

All your way up and down Rue Montorgueil, you will feel the pulse that drives the local daily life. You’ll begin this gourmet journey by visiting an Ali Baba jam grocery and the best bakery around. A fresh, fragrant and appetizing bread will be your next delight.

Not far from here, you’ll discover the component that any French meal requires… Cheeeeeeese. In a store, listed in Charlotte’s personal selection, you’ll be confronted by a wide choice of specialties which are pure sensations.

A step away from the cheese shop, you’ll discover a butchery offering tasty, 100% French origin products, coming from farms and producers with whom the storekeepers share the same sense of quality.

Rue Montorgueil has many wine stores. Charlotte will take you to THE one, where she knows which nectar to suggest to accompany your food purchases.

It’s almost time to go to Charlotte’s home but there's no question of forgetting the dessert on the way. The Stohrer shop window displays cakes since… the 18th century. This is the oldest patisserie in Paris and the creator of the yummy rum baba.

Let’s now go to Charlotte’s apartment. Be prepared to climb a few floors to reach her typical Parisian home, but the view is worth it! It is time to discover the gastronomical results of your morning market and the home-made foie gras she concocted for you. Last but not least, Charlotte will have prepared another surprise and will be happy to share her recipe with you. Bon appétit!

What kind of food I can expect to taste?

You will taste and eat cold cuts (charcuterie), foie gras, bread, cheeses, wine, desserts… So, this tour is as good as a lunch. No need to plan a meal after this.

Is this market food tour recommended for a vegetarian like me?

This tour offers mainly tastings based on meat or cold cuts. However, we can adapt the tour and replace the meat and charcuterie by an extra portion of veggie food. Or why not booking our Veggie Gourmet food tour? See here.

What does the fee for the tour include?

It includes all the tastings. Only if you want to buy some products as personal purchases will it be at your charge.
