Notre Dame & Christmas Market Family Tour (Private)
Christmas in Paris offers a fairylike decor to walk around Notre-Dame de Paris, a district being particularly active in that period of the year. In this Notre Dame Christmas tour, all members of your family will enjoy learning about the cathedral’s construction, seeing the most eye-catching Christmas illuminations and browse an enchanting Christmas market, where some tastings of typical French Christmas products are on schedule.
You will meet your Welcomer in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral, not far from the immense 20 meters high Christmas tree. From its foot, you’ll get the best view on the Cathedral façade, where it holds sculptures illustrating scenes of the Bible. Your Welcomer will transform your kids into investigators to decipher the Holy stories.
Once inside the cathedral, your children will learn about the 3 extraordinary stained-glass rose windows. They are the church’s jewls! Next step: the beautiful Christ Child's crib, settled in Notre-Dame choir. Displayed from December to January, it tells the whole story of Jesus Christ’s birth, from the Holy Night to the Visit of the Three Kings.
Your Notre Dame Christmas tour goes on outside of the Cathedral. Cross the river Seine to reach the René-Viviani public garden. It is one of the most charming garden of the French capital, but usually neglected by crowds.
For Christmas, a market is held in this lovely garden that will keep both your interest and appetite! You’ll have the opportunity to go through local arts and crafts stalls and your children might even meet Santa Claus! Christmas means also yummy experiences. The whole family will sample a couple of specialties that French families serve on Christmas table and a hot drink to warm up.
Is it a visit focused on religion?
As this Notre Dame Christmas tour includes a visit of Paris cathedral, you will obviously be told a little bit about religion and spirituality. But you’ll also be told about architecture, history and French food tradition.
Can we do this Notre Dame Christmas tour in morning?
We recommend doing it in the afternoon (ideally around 4pm) to benefit from the dazzling illuminations, but as this is a private tour we can customize it for your own schedule.
Is this a food tour?
The tastings and the complimentary drink stand for an afternoon snack, not for a proper lunch or dinner. If you’re interested in a Christmas Gourmet food tour, have a look at it here!
