Vegetarian Paris Food Tour – Aligre Market
Are you a veggie visiting Paris and looking to taste healthy French Food? This Food Tour is made for you! Follow our vegetarian foodie expert in the Aligre Market, the most active open-air market of Paris that has been around since 1843. Savor the best selection of cheese, wine, organic fresh fruits and vegetables. A visit to a bakery and a vegan butcher shop is also included. But that’s not it! Finish this food tour with a typical French dessert! Your Welcomer will introduce you to passionate food artisans while wandering through the market stalls, savoring an array of veggie specialties.
From Place de la Bastille, your meeting point, to the “Marché d’Aligre”, your Welcomer will talk about the history of La Bastille and of the Rue Saint-Antoine neighborhood. You will hear about the Bastille jail while passing by the cobblestone alleys of picturesque passages, where typical artisans own their furniture shops.
Once at the Aligre Market, your tasting starts with a typical French bakery. Afterwards, you will enter the Beauvau covered Market, a part of the Aligre market. Here, everyone knows everyone. The fish stand faces the butchers’ and the cheesemakers’, displaying a wide array of products. From Roquefort to Brie de Melun, you name it. But there’s so much more!
Your food expert will guide you through the stalls, making you taste different kinds of French cheeses, but also some fresh vegetables or old-fashioned fruit like the “amour en cage” (love in a cage).
Around the market, some streets house treasures, just like this Veggie butchery that offers tasty alternative to meat and cold cuts: filets, nuggets or hamburgers looking like meat product but made of organic vegetables and cereals to surprise your eyes as much as to delight your palate!
Last but not least, for the grand finale, you’ll sit down and have a wine tasting in a family wine shop. Here, the bottles of wines are bought straight from the producers and some are from the 1970’s and 1980’s! For all wine lovers, this is definitely not to be missed!
