St Germain represents the French elegance in every way in Paris. It is an unmissable neighborhood with beautiful churches and buildings, many stories and all sorts of quality restaurants. This Walking Food Tour Paris, starting ideally at 11am, will begin by visiting a place that quite summarizes the spirit of the district: a beautiful 18th century mansion where the courtyard gives access to a very pretty deli.

Alexandra is the keeper of this deli and a complete foodie. You will enjoy her unique specialties that she finds from local small producers with very high standards. Artichoke cream, divine blackcurrant butter or delicious Foie Gras are only some of her bestsellers. She will spread some of her delights on a crunchy baguette just for you!

Your food expert will then take you to a luxurious butcher shop. The owner raises his own cattle and produces very high quality and reputable meat. France’s biggest head chefs use his products. You will be delighted to try his bestsellers such as his dried beef meat. During a nice pause, you'll enjoy a savory food and wine pairing, to better taste a unique tartare.

The Saint Germain Market is your following destination. Shops are numerous, but your food expert will show you two unescapable shops. The first one takes you to a journey in the gastronomy of southwest of France. The specialty here is black pork meat products, where hog herds are raised with respect to natural resources. The second shop offers cheese found in famous executive chefs’ restaurants. From cow cheese from the Lyon region, fresh and mellow, to a matured cooked cheese from the Alps, turophiles will be thrilled!

After some additional purchases at a savory bakery, it will be time to sit and rest for a while. You will go with your Welcomer to an attractive delicatessen to taste some Mediterranean pleasures, such as the “tapenade”, a typical dish from Provence made of olives and capers.

A Food Tour without dessert is like a beauty with one eye. That's why you'll end your tasting with the delicate taste of a Provence calisson (a several-centuries old little cake, pairing sugar and melon). Why not awaken your palate with an acidulated flavor of sunny Provence fruit jellies.

You're still hungry after this walking food tour? In that case (very unlikely, by the way after such a lunch), your Welcomer will indicate you the way to one of Paris’ best crêperies! The crepe we recommend will need nothing more than a pinch of sugar to enhance its light and flavorful dough. Yes, we are known for simplicity for a reason.😊

Is that walking food tour recommendable for a vegetarian like me?

This tour offers mainly tastings based on meat or cold cuts. However, we can adapt the tour and replace the meat and charcuterie by extra portion of veggie food. Or why not booking our Veggie Gourmet food tour? See here.

Will I need to go for lunch after the tour?

This walking food tour tour IS a proper lunch! You will taste all what makes a French meal: meat, cold cuts, cheeses, bread, wine and dessert. We bet you will be full at the end of the tour 😊

Are we standing all the time while eating?

The duration of the food tour is shared between standing tastings in shops and seated tastings where you savor the purchases previously made.

What does the fee of the tour include?

It includes all the tastings are included in the booking fee. Only if you want to buy some comestibles as private purchases will it be at your charge.

  1. :

Sophie met us at the Saint Germain des près Church. From there, we visited a small épicerie, a specialty meat shop [Polmard], a charcutier, “J’Go,” that specializes in a particular species of pig south of Toulouse. Before leaving the marketplace where we had the charcuterie, we picked up some cheese. We ended the tour in a shop that specializes in items from Provence. We tasted olive oils and selected a bottle of wine. We took the wine downstairs in the shop and had a small lunch of some of the items picked up along the way.
Sophie is knowledgable, personable, friendly, and engaging. She gave us multiple recommendations for other restaurants and shops to try out. It was the perfect morning! We certainly recommend working with Sophie!

  2. :

This tour was just delightful. Emily knows so well Saint-Germain-des-Prés best food retailers. I’m looking forward to follow her on her chocolate tour.
